iPhone 15 to drop below Rs 50,000 during Amazon Republic Day sale but should you buy it?

Amazon’s Republic Day sale is set to drop the iPhone 15 below Rs 50,000. The deal looks tempting, but in 2026 there are clear reasons to think twice before buying Apple’s two-year-old iPhone.

  • Amazon's Great Republic Day Sale offers iPhone 15 at around Rs 50,249
  • iPhone 15 lacks latest features but offers reliability and long-term updates
  • Sale includes bank discounts and possible extra offers for buyers

Amazon is gearing up for its first big sale of 2026 with the Great Republic Day Sale starting January 16, and one of the biggest attention-grabbers this time is the Apple iPhone 15. During the sale, the iPhone 15 is expected to drop to an effective price of around Rs 50,249, making it one of the most affordable ways to buy a relatively recent iPhone.

Right now, the iPhone 15 is listed at Rs 59,900. During the sale, Amazon is offering bank discounts that bring the price down by nearly Rs 10,000. There could also be additional offers layered on top, such as card-based benefits or limited-time price cuts, which may push the final price closer to the Rs 50,000 mark. For buyers who have been waiting to get an iPhone under Rs 60,000, this is easily one of the strongest deals seen so far in 2026.

But a big discount does not automatically mean it is the right buy. The iPhone 15 launched in September 2023, which makes it over two years old now. That matters more in 2026 than it did a year ago.

One reason to pause is performance and features. The phone runs on Apple’s A16 Bionic chip, which is still smooth for daily use but no longer cutting-edge. In the same price range, several Android phones offer faster processors, higher refresh rate displays, and more aggressive hardware upgrades. The iPhone 15 also misses out on features like a 120Hz display and Always-On display, which have become more common even outside premium phones.

Another concern is future-facing features. The iPhone 15 does not support Apple Intelligence, which is Apple’s big push into on-device AI. With AI becoming a key part of how phones work, this could make the iPhone 15 feel dated sooner than expected, especially for buyers planning to use the phone for four or five years.

So why should anyone still consider buying it?

The biggest reason is reliability and long-term software support. Apple is known for supporting its iPhones for many years, and the iPhone 15 will continue to receive updates well into the next decade. You also get a solid camera system, a compact 6.1-inch design, USB Type-C, and a clean, stable iOS experience that many users still prefer over Android.

At under Rs 50,000, the iPhone 15 is no longer about having the latest features. It is about getting a dependable iPhone at a price that finally feels reasonable. If you want the newest tech, this is not the phone to buy in 2026. But if you simply want an iPhone that works well and will last, the deal makes sense.
