Meta’s Chief AI Officer has highlighted the company wants to make AI more accessible. Speaking at the India AI Summit 2026, Wang said Meta is working to make artificial intelligence a practical tool embedded in daily experiences. He also added that the company sees a responsibility to ensure technology directly benefits society.
“If you want to make technology that serves society, Meta has an incredible opportunity to get this technology into people’s lives,” Wang said during his keynote address.
How Meta’s AI is already being used in India
Wang pointed to how AI is quietly becoming part of everyday digital activity across the country. He explained that creators are now able to reach wider audiences as Meta’s tools automatically translate Reels into viewers’ preferred languages, breaking linguistic barriers without extra effort.
He added that small businesses are adopting AI at speed, often without technical teams, by building WhatsApp Business agents directly from their phones in minutes. These agents, he said, are helping companies talk to customers, manage queries, and create ads using generative AI tools that make marketing more efficient than traditional methods.
Wang also highlighted the role of Indian developers, describing them as world-class innovators using AI to tackle large societal challenges across education, services, and accessibility.
New AI models set to roll out in 2026
Looking ahead, Wang confirmed that Meta is preparing to release a new generation of AI models this year, with the first arriving within the next few months. He said these models will not exist as standalone tools but will be deeply woven into Meta’s platforms.
“We’re releasing new models this year, with the first coming in the next couple of months,” he said, adding that Meta expects steady improvements through the year as it continues pushing AI capabilities forward.
A shift toward personal super intelligence
Wang described Meta’s long-term ambition as moving beyond generic AI assistants toward systems that understand individuals on a deeper level. He explained that the company envisions AI that adapts to personal goals, interests, and daily priorities.
“Our vision is personal superintelligence – AI that knows you, your goals, your interests, and helps you with whatever you’re focused on doing,” he said, stressing that AI should serve people in ways that feel natural and personal rather than uniform.
Towards the end, Wang also mentioned underlining the importance of collaboration between governments and technology companies to ensure AI is built for local realities. He argued that innovation should not be designed as a one-size-fits-all solution.
He said AI must reflect the languages, cultures, and economic needs of India and the global south, serving both societies and individuals wherever they live. According to Wang, tailoring AI to regional challenges will be key to ensuring the technology delivers real value across the world.
