Google has been offering a tool that allows users to migrate their data from one Android smartphone to another while setting it up from scratch. For years, the tool has been known as the “Data Restore Tool”. But, that’s no longer the case as Google has rebranded this tool and now it is calling it “Android Switch”.
Android Switch – the name is new, but features aren't. Well, the name of the tool has changed, the core functionality, however, remains unchanged. That means, the tool still facilitates data transfer from one device to another including apps, photos, videos, messages, contacts, settings, etc wired or wireless depending on preference.
Google has updated the Play Store listing for the tool with the new name and to get the tool, you’ll now need to search Android Switch and then download it on the phone,
Meanwhile, there’s this new logo that has three arrows comprised of five dots and it resembles to the Blue, Yellow, and Green theme of the Switch to Android app on iOS.
As mentioned, the name has changed, the function remains the same, change appears to make things simpler for users to remember. Data Restore Tool was a little more confusing as it can be mistaken for a tool that helps you restore the data on the device that you’ve accidentally deleted. Android Switch seems like the straightforward name for it.
