The foldable smartphone market is picking pace, as all major Android smartphone manufacturers have released their latest foldable smartphones in the last few years. After Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6 earlier this year, Google recently launched its first foldable smartphone in India, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Design and display
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a 6.3-inch OLED cover display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The phone weighs 257 grams and is 5.1mm thin when unfolded. It features an 8-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate and has 2700 nits of peak brightness.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is slightly lighter, as it weighs 239 grams. The phone has a 7.6-inch foldable LTPO AMOLED display, with a 120Hz refresh rate. Moreover, it features a similar 6.3-inch AMOLED cover display, which also supports a 120Hz peak refresh rate. Both screens of the Z Fold 6 support 2600 nits of peak brightness.
Performance
The Pixel 9 Fold Pro is powered by Google’s latest Tensor G4 chip along with the Titan M2 security chip. It has 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. On the other hand, the Z Fold 6 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with lower 12GB RAM and upto 1TB storage. Both smartphones currently run on Android 14 and are promised to get seven years of updates.
Camera
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a 48MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.7, and optical image stabilization (OIS). It also has a 10.5MP ultra-wide camera at f/2.2 and a 127-degree field of view. In addition, there's a 10.8MP telephoto camera with OIS, 5x optical zoom, and 20X Super Res zoom. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold has a 10MP selfie camera at the corner of the display, instead of the 4MP camera on the Z Fold 6, which is under the display.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 also has a similar triple camera setup at the back. It offers a 50MP main camera with OIS and an 85-degree field of view. It also includes a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field of view, as well as a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Both smartphones come with 10MP cover screen selfie cameras.
Battery
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with a bigger 4650mAh battery that supports 37W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is backed up by a 4400mAh battery with 25W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. The Z Fold 6 also supports 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
Price
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a starting price of Rs 1,64,999 and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold starts at Rs 1,72,999.
