Google Photos is making it easier to hide unwanted faces from Memories: Here’s how it works

Google Photos is testing a new feature that allows users to hide specific faces in the Memories tab. This feature is expected to be rolled out in the coming months.

Google Photos, the popular media manager on Android devices is reportedly developing a new functionality, which makes hiding certain people’s faces from the Memories tab. With this feature, Photos users will be able to choose certain faces and hide them from the Memories tab automatically.

This feature was spotted by Android Authority in collaboration with tipster Assemble Debug.  It was reportedly spotted during an APK teardown of the app for the Android platform and a new feature dubbed ‘Hide face from Memories’ was spotted. The feature is speculated to allow users to select certain faces and then hide images or videos of those from the Memories tab.

Previously, users had to navigate through multiple setting options to exclude specific faces on the app. However, this new update promises a more streamlined approach, allowing users to directly hide a face, with just a normal tap. This change is expected to make the process quicker and more streamlined.

Google Photos Hide Face from Memories: Here’s how it works

Users can begin using this feature by accessing the setting option of the Google Photos app and then removing specific people from showing up in Memories on Google Photos. To access this feature, users need to tap on Preferences > Memories, and select > ‘Hide people and pets’.

This process will make sure that the faces of individuals whom you want to hide from the Google Photos app. However, there is no information regarding the timeline of its rollout, but we can expect it to be available in the coming months.
