Google has officially confirmed its annual Made by Google hardware event for Wednesday, August 20, returning to New York City this year. Kicking off at 10 am PT / 10.30 pm IST, the keynote will be livestreamed on YouTube and is expected to spotlight a wide range of Pixel products and AI-driven software upgrades.
This year’s event comes earlier than usual, following a broader acceleration of Google’s hardware and Android release cycle. The main attractions? A full slate of Pixel 10 devices — including the Pixel 10, 10 Pro, 10 Pro XL, and the 10 Pro Fold. While hardware design changes may be minimal, the real upgrades are expected under the hood. The long-awaited Tensor G5 chip will reportedly make its debut, marking a switch from Samsung’s foundry to TSMC, which could mean better efficiency and thermal management.
On the software front, the Pixel 10 lineup is set to launch with Android 16 QPR1, bringing with it the new Material 3 Expressive design language and deeper generative AI integration across the system — especially within Google Assistant and productivity apps.
Focus on wearables
In wearables, Google is likely to unveil the Pixel Watch 4, now expected to come in two sizes for the first time, addressing one of the most common criticisms of previous models. While leaks have been scarce, the watch will likely focus on battery life, fitness features, and tighter Fitbit integration.
Also on the cards is the Pixel Buds 2a, a new, more affordable alternative to Google’s premium audio lineup. Rounding out the ecosystem will be updated charging accessories and new AI-powered experiences that cut across devices.
With the Apple iPhone 17 series expected in September, Google’s August launch positions it to grab attention early and set the tone for the second half of 2025.
