With the newly launched Pixel Buds Pro 2, Google introduced Gemini AI assistant integration to its TWS earphones. You can customize the press-and-hold gesture to trigger Google Gemini quickly. Gemini AI has also replaced Google Assistant on most Android devices and with Gemini Live integration and is one the most AI services globally.
However, now Google has confirmed that all the prevalent Google Pixel Buds will get Gemini LLM and the accompanying AI assistant. An upcoming update would make it easier to install and use Google’s Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) on the older generation of Pixel TWS earbuds. The company has sent out an email to users, announcing that Gemini will be available on Pixel Buds, the user has it as the default digital assistant on his phone.
At present, previous-generation Pixel Buds can only access the Google Assistant when using voice controls or on-device earbud touch controls. However, Pixel Buds, Pixel Buds A-series, and Pixel Buds Pro users can access Gemini on their earphones using the same activation gesture as Google Assistant.
However, Google has indicated the new update for the older generation of Pixel Buds is limited to countries where Gemini is currently available. Therefore, users who don’t live in these regions will still have access to Google Assistant only with the older Pixel earphones. Google has also not specified the timeframe for this update, but we can expect it to roll out in the coming weeks.
