Elon Musk-owned X, the social media platform previously known as Twitter, has nearly doubled the prices of its topmost subscription tier X Premium+, marking the second price hike in three months.
This move comes a day after Musk's artificial intelligence (AI) venture xAI released the next major version of its AI model, Grok 3. It has currently been rolled out only to X Premium+ users.
X Premium+ is currently available in India for Rs 3,470 per month, a significant jump from Rs 1,750 per month earlier. Annual plan has also been increased from Rs 18,300 per year to Rs 34,340 per year.
The company, which introduced Premium+ tier in October 2023 for a price of Rs 1,300 per month, had increased the monthly pricing to Rs 1,750 in December 2024.
These prices are higher on X's mobile apps since it passes on Google and Apple's in-app commission to consumers. On these apps, X charges Rs 5,130 per month or Rs 50,200 per year for the Premium+ plan.
Pricing of X's other subscription tiers are however unchanged at present. The basic plan is currently available at Rs 244 per month while the premium plan is priced at Rs 650 per month. On iOS and Android apps, these plans are available for Rs 390 and Rs 900 respectively.
Apart from Grok, X Premium+ gives users an ad-free experience across the algorithmic 'For You' or the chronological 'Following' feeds on the platform.
It also gives subscribers the ability to write articles, and access to real-time trends among others.
