EA is “excited” for a new Battlefield game: What we know so far

Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson has claimed that the next Battlefield game is "one of the most ambitious projects in the company’s history".

After Battlefield 2042, Electronic Arts has plans for a new Battlefield game, EA’s Chairman of the Board and CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed in the Q1 2025 Electronic Arts’ Earnings Call.

The EA CEO said that players worldwide continue to be passionate about the Battlefield franchise and the Battlefield player count has crossed over 25 million over the last 12 months. He added that the next Battlefield experience is one of EA’s top priorities and one of the most ambitious projects in the company’s history.

“The community is energized by what our teams are doing and excited for what comes next. This is not just one of our top priorities, it is also one of the most ambitious projects in our history. We have brought together the very best team, coupled with the resources and technology they need to deliver an epic Battlefield experience”, the Electronic Arts CEO added.

In August 2023, the EA CEO said that the upcoming Battlefield game would be a "reimagination of Battlefield" and will “exist in a "truly connected ecosystem."

EA is working on multiple single-player and multiplayer Battlefield experiences, helmed by different EA game studios. For example, DICE is working on a Battlefield multiplayer, while Los Angeles-based Ripple Effect is developing a separate Battlefield experience which could be a free-to-play battle royale game mode. We can assume that the upcoming Battlefield projects will be connected and part of a bigger Battlefield narrative, told through various modes.
