Dell is warning its employees that a major shake-up is coming, and the company says it will be the biggest change in its history. According to a memo seen by Business Insider, Dell plans to overhaul how it works across teams, systems, and tools starting in 2026.
The message was sent by Jeff Clarke, Dell’s chief operating officer and vice chairman. In the memo, Clarke told employees to “be ready” for a company-wide transformation that will standardise how work gets done and bring everyone onto a single enterprise platform.
Dell is calling this effort “One Dell Way.” The idea is to replace the company’s many different systems, apps, and databases with one shared setup that connects data across teams. Clarke said this will help break down internal barriers, reduce repetitive work, speed up decisions, and give employees more time to focus on meaningful work.
For years, Dell has used multiple versions of tools for basic tasks like building products and selling them. Clarke said that approach no longer works, especially as companies prepare for an AI-focused future. He stressed that Dell needs one clear and simple way of working if it wants to stay competitive and serve customers better.
The rollout will not be slow or gradual. Instead, Dell is planning a single switch-over date. On May 3, the new system will go live for large parts of the company, including its PC business, finance, supply chain, marketing, sales, services, and HR. Dell’s infrastructure group, which handles servers, cloud offerings, and AI systems, will move to the new setup later, in August.
Clarke made it clear that training will be critical. Employees are expected to start preparing early, with training programs opening on February 3. The message to staff was direct: this change is coming fast, and everyone needs to be ready for it.
Business Insider also reported that Dell has been quietly working on this transformation for years under a secret internal project called Maverick. Employees involved had signed non-disclosure agreements, and while parts of the rollout were earlier planned for February 2026, the launch was eventually pushed to May.
This transformation comes at a significant moment for Dell. Founded 42 years ago by Michael Dell while he was a student, the company has gone through many changes over the decades. It has expanded into cloud and AI infrastructure, gone private and returned to public markets, and completed massive deals like its $67 billion acquisition of EMC.
Even so, Dell says this upcoming shift will be bigger than anything it has done before. For employees, that means 2026 could bring new tools, new ways of working, and a very different day-to-day experience at the company.
