Canon Inc. has introduced two new RF mount ultra-wide lenses for its EOS R mirrorless camera system, expanding its professional L-series lineup in 2026. The company unveiled the RF14mm f/1.4L VCM prime lens and the RF7–14mm f/2.8–3.5L Fisheye STM zoom lens, focusing on low-light performance, portability, and advanced optical correction for both photography and video users.

The new releases target landscape, architecture, astrophotography, and immersive content creators, with Canon highlighting improved weight balance, faster apertures, and support for VR-style imaging workflows.

Features

The RF7–14mm f/2.8–3.5L Fisheye STM becomes Canon’s first native RF mount fisheye zoom lens and delivers a circular 190-degree angle of view at 7mm on full-frame cameras. The lens uses equidistant projection for consistent image compression across the frame, supporting hemispherical panorama creation through Canon’s EOS VR Utility software. Canon says optical redesign reduces colour bleeding while cutting weight to around 476 grams, making it lighter than its EF mount predecessor.

Meanwhile, the RF14mm f/1.4L VCM is Canon’s widest non-fisheye autofocus prime lens with an f/1.4 aperture. Weighing roughly 578 grams, it allows significantly more light intake than older ultra-wide designs. The lens features VCM motor technology for smoother video focus transitions, reduced focus breathing, and special optical elements aimed at controlling sagittal coma flare and colour fringing — useful for night sky and low-light shooting.

Both lenses include dust- and drip-resistant construction along with fluorine coatings to minimise smudges and flare.

Price

Canon has set the RF14mm f/1.4L VCM at Rs 2,19,995, while the RF7–14mm f/2.8–3.5L Fisheye STM is priced at Rs 1,52,995, inclusive of taxes.

Availability

The new RF ultra-wide lenses are expected to reach the Indian market through Canon’s authorised retail and professional camera channels in the coming weeks.
