When it comes to speakers, there are multiple options and categories to choose from, depending on what exactly you want from it. You can go with portable speakers for on-the-go listening. You can choose a bookshelf for home decor and elegance. And, then there are party speakers which are solely designed for – well – parties. Party speakers have some tricks up their sleeves like multiple input options, microphone support, and a loud and clear driver setup. Also, some even come with RGB lighting that reacts to the music. The Boult Audio’s Party Box X80 has got them all.

It comes with a dual driver setup that churns out a total of 80W output along with an LED panel and input options like Aux, Bluetooth, and TF card. Most importantly, it is compatible with the entire range of devices.

Priced at Rs 6,999 on Amazon, the X80 party speaker has a good set of features and I tried it for multiple weeks for listening to a wide selection of music and even used it to watch some movies. Here’s a review of the Party Box X80 speaker.

Design
Design-wise, it has got a tower speaker-like design only a little more aesthetically pleasing that goes well with the interior and does not feel out of place. Also, the size is big and that’s something you need to keep in mind and why not – it is a party speaker after all. The front has an LED panel and the entire facia lights up when the music is played. There are multiple modes for lights and they are responsive as well, irrespective of the mode you’ve selected for them.

The front also has an LED display that indicates the mode, colour, etc for users to see. Something that comes in handy.

Moving on, the top of the speaker has controls for adjusting volume (via the rotary dial). I call it a nice touch. Around that, there are controls for adjusting the Bass, Treble, and Echo on the right side of the rotary dial. The left side has the music controls, power button, LED controls and mode

Below that, all the input options are placed, and you have the Type-C port for power output – the speaker has a battery and it can charge your phone and other devices. Then, there’s the USB -A port for pen drive playback, SD card slot, AUX and Mic jack.

As you can see, the speaker comes pretty loaded with features, especially when it comes to playback.

Next, there’s a handle built into the design of the speaker – pretty smartly.

Overall, the Party Box X80 has a good design. Also, the build quality, despite all plastic built is solid and is — not cheap.

Audio performance
Dual Dynamic Drivers with 80W of total output. There’s a dedicated driver for treble as well. So, the hardware appears to be alright here. So, we played a range of music tracks from different genres, especially Bollywood party tracks and the best part of the speaker is that it is loud and clear to a certain volume level – 80% to be exact. Above that, the audio quality depreciates a bit, but not to an annoying level. It’s just that the bass starts rattling a bit which isn’t pleasant when you are having a party at home. But, 80% volume is loud enough to make your neighbours complain or call the police.

Vocals are clear and the treble is on point the fact that you can control both treble and bass using the speaker makes it easier to fine-tune the audio as per the need. Also, if you play with the options carefully, the speaker does deliver promising audio.

The only gripe I have is that Boult could have optimised and tuned the drivers a little better to deliver the right balance of audio right out of the box.

I also plugged in the microphone to try out some Karaoke and although I sing bad, the speaker does a good job at it. The separation of vocals and the background score. If you are into Karaoke, it won’t disappoint you.

Battery life
The speaker also comes with a built-in battery that claims to deliver up to 5 hours of playback. For a speaker of this size, 5 hours of a bold claim and in my testing at 80% volume and LEDs turned on, the speaker delivered around 4 hours of playback which is impressive.

Verdict
Boult Audio Party Box X80, priced at Rs 6,999, is a feature-packed party speaker with a dual-driver setup delivering 80W output, vibrant RGB lighting, and multiple input options like Bluetooth, AUX, USB, and TF card. Its design is sleek yet functional, with intuitive controls and a built-in handle for portability. Audio performance is loud and clear up to 80% volume, with adjustable bass and treble for customisation. While bass rattles at higher volumes, it impresses in vocal clarity and karaoke support. The built-in battery offers around 4 hours of playback at 80% volume with LEDs on, falling slightly short of the claimed 5 hours. Overall, the X80 is a solid choice for parties, offering good value for its price.
