Apple has said that 2025 was a record-breaking year across several of its services, pointing to strong growth in usage, subscriptions and engagement across its digital platforms. The update was shared as part of a company announcement highlighting performance across the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, Apple Pay and other services.

According to Apple, the App Store continued to see large-scale global usage in 2025. The company said the App Store averaged more than 850 million weekly users across 175 countries and regions during the year. It also recorded its highest-ever annual number of visitors in the US. Apple added that the period between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day delivered a record number of App Store visitors, reflecting continued demand for apps and games during the holiday season.

Video streaming also emerged as a key growth area. Apple said Apple TV set a new record for monthly engagement in December. Total hours of content watched on the platform were up 36 percent year on year, driven by strong performance from titles such as F1: The Movie and Pluribus. The company did not disclose total subscriber numbers, but described 2025 as the service’s strongest year so far in terms of viewing activity.

Music remained another major contributor to Apple’s services business. Apple Music recorded its best year ever, with Apple saying the platform achieved new records for overall listenership as well as new subscriber additions. Meanwhile, Shazam crossed more than 1 billion song recognitions per month during the year, underlining its continued relevance in music discovery.

Payments and financial services also saw wider adoption. Apple said Apple Pay is now available in 89 markets globally and has helped eliminate more than $1 billion in fraud worldwide. Tap to Pay on iPhone, which allows merchants to accept payments directly on their devices, has expanded to 50 markets.

Location and fitness services posted steady growth as well. Apple Maps expanded its Detailed City Experience with 3D landmarks to additional locations, including New Orleans, Singapore and Monaco. The Share Item Location feature within the Find My app is now supported by 36 airlines, making it easier for travellers to track lost items.

On the gaming and fitness side, Apple Arcade added more than 50 new games in 2025, while Apple Fitness+ expanded to 28 more countries and regions. Apple also confirmed that Fitness+ is set to launch in Japan early this year.

Apple said Apple Podcasts achieved annual records for listeners, episode plays and new subscribers. Apple News was named the most-used news app in the US, Canada and Australia, and the second most popular in the UK.

Commenting on the results, Eddy Cue said customer engagement across Apple’s services reflected strong interest in apps, entertainment, payments and digital content. The update highlights how Apple’s services division continues to grow alongside its hardware business, playing an increasingly central role in the company’s overall strategy.
