Apple’s first foldable iPhone rumoured to launch next year: What to expect

Apple is expected to unveil its long-awaited foldable iPhone in 2026 with the iPhone 18 family. In the last few months, we have seen multiple rumours about its technical specifications. Earlier this week, a new report revealed its display details and the possible camera placement of the smartphone. Now, a German outlet has shared the alleged computer-aided design (CAD) renders of the purported iPhone Fold, revealing its possible design.

iPhone Fold: Expected design, display

According to a report by The Information, the iPhone Fold could launch in late 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Pro, with the vanilla iPhone 18 expected to launch with the iPhone 18e in early 2027. Further, the phone could have a large 7.7-inch inner display and a smaller 5.3-inch outer display, similar to the already-discontinued iPhone Mini smartphones.

Moreover, the German website iPhone-ticker.de has shared CAD renders of the iPhone Fold, which reveal that the phone could have a smaller external display and rear panel. A 1.8mm hinge section is visible when folded, and it appears to have two outward-facing cameras. The main screen has a hole punch for its front camera, corroborating the information from the earlier report.

In the unfolded state, the handset will reportedly be 4.8mm thin, which means it will be even thinner than the iPhone Air, which is 5.64mm thick. As for its pricing, the purported iPhone Fold is tipped to come with a price tag of $1,999 (around Rs 2,15,000). It is also expected to reintroduce Touch ID support instead of the traditional Face ID unlocking mechanism.
