After years of waiting, Apple is expected to launch its first foldable later this year, with the purported iPhone Fold. Although the Cupertino-based tech giant is yet to disclose any details about this upcoming device, multiple previous reports suggest that it will likely launch alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series, with the iPhone 18 tipped to launch early next year. Now, a new leak suggests that the foldable could solve one of the biggest challenges of past foldable smartphones: the display crease size. This leak also suggests the expected production and price details of this purported handset.
Apple’s iPhone Fold: Expected display upgrades, price
A recent leak shared by Fixed Focus Digital via Weibo reveals a few interesting details regarding the upcoming iPhone Fold's display. According to his post, this purported foldable from Apple is confirmed to launch this year, with production orders already underway. The tipster also mentions that it may feature a narrow crease in the inner display measuring just 0.15mm, which indicates that the crease will be hardly noticeable during use, offering an uninterrupted big-screen viewing experience.
Crease depth refers to how deep the visible groove or indentation is while folding the screen. A smaller measurement means the fold line will be less noticeable, both visually and while scrolling on the screen. The tipster also mentions that the crease angle is likely to be kept below 2.5 degrees, which is calculated by the angle formed at the crease area. The mentioned lower angle suggests a smoother and flatter transition across the folding section, rather than a deeper transition, which usually happens after prolonged use.
The tipster also mentions that the price for the iPhone Fold is ‘conservative,’ and the product strength is ‘good.’ However, the post did not share any precise price range. Considering that its immediate rival, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, is currently priced at just under Rs 1.75 lakh in India, we can expect Apple to match that price by this revelation.
