Apple is preparing to expand its retail presence in India with a new store in Hyderabad, according to job listings on its careers portal, even as the company gears up to open another outlet in Mumbai next month.
The iPhone-maker has posted openings for roles such as Store Leader, Senior Manager and Genius for Hyderabad, signalling its next brick-and-mortar move in one of India’s fastest-growing tech corridors. Apple typically starts hiring close to a year before a store becomes operational, suggesting the Hyderabad location could open in early 2027.
The move comes months after Apple inaugurated its Noida store in December — its third launch in 2025 — as the company strengthens its position among the top five smartphone brands in India by volume.
In December, Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail and People, told Moneycontrol that the company’s next phase of expansion reflects its long-term commitment to the country, with another Mumbai store slated to open soon.
“We have been innovating and delivering exceptional products and services in India for over 25 years, building meaningful connections with customers and communities, and this next phase of growth reflects our continued commitment to India with another store opening in Mumbai as our retail journey expands with energy and purpose,” she had said.
Apple entered India’s physical retail space in 2023 with flagship stores in Mumbai and Delhi, following the launch of its online store in 2020. It later added outlets in Bengaluru, Pune and Noida, steadily expanding into major urban markets.
India has also served as an early rollout market for several exclusive retail initiatives. The country became the second globally, after the United States, to introduce Shop with a Specialist over Video. In-store services include Personal Setup, Trade In, support for switching to iOS, data transfer assistance and Today at Apple sessions.
The retail expansion aligns with broader momentum for Apple in India, spanning rising device demand, deeper distribution reach and expanding local manufacturing.
According to Counterpoint Research, Apple recorded 28 percent year-on-year shipment growth in India in 2025, significantly outpacing the overall market’s 1 percent volume growth. The company also achieved its highest-ever annual value share in the country, benefiting from accelerating premiumisation trends.
The iPhone 16 emerged as the top-shipped smartphone model in India during the year, marking the highest annual shipment share ever achieved by an iPhone in the market. Analysts attributed Apple’s performance to stronger channel execution and expanding presence in smaller cities through multi-brand outlets and premium resellers.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly described India as a major growth engine. On January 30, he said the company set a December quarter revenue record in the country, driven by record sales of iPhone, Mac and iPad, along with an all-time high in services revenue.
“We did set a quarterly revenue record during the December quarter, and to go a little further down, we set quarterly revenue records on iPhone and Mac and iPad, and an all-time revenue record on services. So, it was a terrific quarter in India. We really like what we see there,” Cook said, without disclosing specific figures.
Calling India the world’s second-largest smartphone market and fourth-largest PC market, Cook noted that Apple still holds a modest share. “We think there’s a huge opportunity for us there, and we could not be more excited about it,” he said, adding that a majority of customers buying iPhone, Mac, iPad and Watch in India are new to the products — underscoring the long runway for growth.
With Hyderabad now emerging as the next likely destination and Mumbai set to add another landmark store, Apple’s India retail expansion appears firmly on track.
