Apple has unveiled the new Mac mini, which now comes powered by M4 and M4 Pro chips. The compact Mac mini now measures just 5 by 5 inches and brings significant performance upgrades.
According to Apple, the enhanced M4 chip delivers up to 1.8 times faster CPU performance and 2.2 times faster GPU performance compared to the previous M1 model, catering to users seeking a powerful yet space-efficient desktop.
Apple Mac mini: Price and availability
The new Mac mini with M4 and M4 Pro is available to order today, October 29 from Apple’s online store.
The all-new Mac mini with M4 starts at Rs 59,900 whereas the one with M4 Pro starts at Rs 1,49,900.
Buyers can also get new accessories with USB-C — including Magic Keyboard for Rs 9500, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID for Rs 14500, Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad for Rs 17,500, Magic Trackpad for Rs 12,500, Magic Mouse for Rs 7,500, and Thunderbolt 5 Pro Cable for Rs 6,900.
Apple Mac mini: Key specs
The all-new Mac mini with M4 features a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and now starts with 16GB of unified memory.
The Mac mini with M4 Pro chip takes these advancements further, scaling up the M4’s capabilities to handle more demanding tasks. With up to 14 cores, including 10 performance cores and four efficiency cores, M4 Pro also provides better multithreaded performance. With up to 20 cores, the M4 Pro GPU is up to twice as powerful as the GPU in M4.
The M4 Pro Mac mini is targeted at professionals needing additional processing power for intensive workflows, such as complex video editing, software development, or running data-heavy applications.
Apple has improved connectivity options as the Mac mini now comes with both front and back ports for easier access. It includes front-facing ports for more convenient access, including two USB-C ports that support USB 3, and an audio jack with support for high-impedance headphones.
On the back, Mac mini with M4 includes three Thunderbolt 4 ports, while Mac mini with M4 Pro features three Thunderbolt 5 ports. Mac mini comes standard with Gigabit Ethernet, configurable up to 10Gb Ethernet for faster networking speeds, and an HDMI port for easy connection to a TV or HDMI display without an adapter.
Like with all Mac devices with Apple silicon, the new Mac mini supports Apple Intelligence features.
Apple has also revealed that this model is the company’s first carbon-neutral Mac, with an over 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions throughout its lifecycle.
