Apple is planning to enter into smart display and IoT segment with these two products

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is rumoured to be developing a new HomePod equipped with a display for quite some time now. According to multiple reports, the device was earlier scheduled to launch in the second half of 2024 and was eventually delayed to the first quarter of 2025. However, now, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the launch timeline of the new HomePod with display has been revised further to late 2025.

Apple’s next HomePod and smart IP camera: Key details

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, in his new article on Medium, has stated that software development delays have forced Apple to push the display-enabled HomePod’s launch back by up to another six months beyond its rescheduled Q1 2025 release window. This means that the device could arrive as late as Q3 of 2025.

Further, it is expected to come with a 6.0-inch or 7.0-inch screen and an A18 chipset, just like the current iPhone 16 line-up. Further, this new HomePod will emphasize smart home functionality more than the current HomePods, as it is also expected to come with certain Apple Intelligence features.

The display-equipped HomePod will also work wirelessly with Apple's smart home IP camera, which is rumoured to arrive in 2026. Both products will also showcase Apple’s increased focus on the smart home market in the coming years. Alongside these devices, a high-end tabletop device with a screen attached to a robotic arm, more smart home cameras, and smart TVs are also in the pipeline from Apple in the next decade.
