Apple iPhone 16 series is finally available now, with Apple intelligence and some key hardware upgrades. The iPhone 16 is positioned as an excellent entry point from the series, especially for those wanting to experience iOS for the first time. However, for budget-conscious buyers, the iPhone 14 remains a solid option, especially as it is now available at a discounted price in India during the festive sale period.
Here we now compare these two Apple smartphones and see which one is better.
Apple iPhone 16 vs iPhone 14: Display
Like last year’s iPhone 15, the iPhone 16 comes with a Dynamic Island notch instead of the static notch found on the iPhone 14. Both smartphones come with 60Hz OLED displays and a 6.1-inch screen size. With Dynamic Island, you get a more interactive display experience, with notifications, music controls, and other information seamlessly integrated into the pill-shaped notch.
The iPhone 16 also supports 2000 nits of peak brightness, compared to lower 2,000 nits peak brightness on the iPhone 14.
Apple iPhone 16 vs iPhone 14: Performance
Under the hood, the Apple iPhone 16 is powered by Apple’s latest A18 Bionic chipset. It is a substantial upgrade from the A15 Bionic SoC in the iPhone 14. The A18 not only delivers faster performance and improved efficiency but also comes with Apple Intelligence (AI) support.
While the A15 processor in the iPhone 14 remains powerful enough to handle most everyday tasks smoothly, the A18 offers better thermal efficiency and longevity. We also get higher 8GB RAM support on the iPhone 16 compared to 6GB RAM on the iPhone 15.

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 has dual 12MP main and ultra-wide cameras. The iPhone 16 captures more detail, particularly in low-light settings, and has improved night and portrait mode support.
Additionally, the iPhone 16 comes with a new Camera Control button that allows quick access to photo features like zooming, adjusting focus, or changing camera modes.
