Apple is set to unveil a significant update to its Notes app in December, introducing a range of nifty Apple Intelligence features. The features — currently available in iOS 18.2 beta — are aimed to improving productivity of users by using advanced Apple Intelligence features.
One of the standout features is the integration of ChatGPT for writing assistance. Users can now effortlessly compose original text based on prompts by simply clicking the new “Compose” button within the writing tools panel. This feature enables users to generate text for notes, emails, and other documents, streamlining their writing process.
Moreover, users can provide specific instructions for rewriting text, ensuring that their content is in line with what they are expecting. Do keep in mind that this is done by ChatGPT and Apple’s own writing tools won’t do it. So, if you’ve turned off ChatGPT in Apple Intelligence, this feature won’t be available.
Generating images in Notes
Furthermore, the update introduces AI-powered image generation tools. Users can highlight text in their notes and use the “Create image” option to generate images based on the selected text. This feature leverages Image Playground to create custom images that can be resized and adjusted within the note.
For iPad users, the update includes the Image Wand tool, which transforms sketches into creative illustrations or generates images based on the context of the note.
If you are keen to test the new features in Notes — or any other upcoming Apple Intelligence features — you can download the iOS 18.2 beta version. However, it may have some bugs, so do it at your own risk. It is expected that Apple will roll out iOS 18.2 public version sometime in December.
