Amazon has 'bad news' for Prime Video users, here's why

Amazon is making changes to its device-sharing rules, and this one might not sit well with everyone. Starting January 2025, Prime Video users in India will no longer be able to stream on more than two TVs at the same time under a single subscription. If your household relies on multiple TVs for those weekend movie marathons, you might need to rethink your setup.

Here’s what is changing

While you’ll still be able to connect up to five devices, only two of them can be TVs. Explaining the new terms, Amazon stated:

"As part of your Prime membership, you and your household are entitled to enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices. Starting January 2025, we are updating our usage terms in India to include up to two TVs as part of your five devices entitlement. You can manage your devices on your Settings page or buy another Prime membership to watch Prime Video on more devices."

For those using more than two TVs, you have two options: manage which TVs are registered under your account via the Settings page or get an additional Prime membership to accommodate the extra screens.
This change aims to streamline access while maintaining quality, but it could mean adjustments for households used to multi-TV streaming. So, if you want to avoid last-minute interruptions, it’s worth reviewing your devices before the new policy kicks in.

Amazon Prime membership plans and their prices

Amazon India offers multiple Prime membership plans to suit different needs and budgets.

The Monthly Plan costs Rs 299 and includes benefits like free one- or two-day deliveries, access to Prime Video and Prime Music, exclusive deals, and more. The Quarterly Plan is priced at Rs 599 for three months, offering the same benefits at a slightly reduced monthly rate.

For long-term savings, the Annual Plan is available at Rs 1,499 and provides full Prime benefits, making it the most cost-effective option. Alternatively, the Prime Lite Annual Plan costs Rs 799 per year. It includes free two-day delivery and access to Prime Video with ads, but it lacks features like Prime Music and limits video quality to HD on mobile devices.
