AI Godfather Yann LeCun: India Must Embrace Open Source, Invest in Research to Become an AI Hub Like France

LeCun, who is a Vice-President and Chief AI Scientist at Meta and a pioneer in artificial intelligence spoke to Moneycontrol's Chandra R Srikanth and Vikas SN on India's approach to building AI, why the need to invest in research is crucial, why the risks of AI are exaggerated and what his advice would be to a 10 year old, 20 year old, 30-40 year old LeCun was awarded, along with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio, the 2018 Turing Award, often referred to as the ‘Nobel Prize in Computer Science’, for his work on Deep Learning. Together, the three of them are often referred to as the Godfathers of AI.
