After RayBan, Meta likely to partner with Oakley to produce smart glasses

Meta’s new glasses will be based on Oakley’s Sphaera model and feature a camera in the center of the frame, as per reports

Meta is all set to launch a new pair of AI smart glasses. It is expected to partner with Oakley to produce new smart glasses targeted at athletes, according to Mark Gurman’s report for Bloomberg.

To recall, Meta launched the RayBan Meta smart glasses in 2023. The smart glasses come with a host of features including the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 processor, and a 12-megapixel ultra wide lens. While the RayBan glasses were best suited for regular buyers, the Oakley-based glasses will be preferred more by the athletes, or people who are into sports.

Meta Oakley glasses: All the details

Oakley is primarily known for its sports eyeglasses and other sports performance equipment. It is preferred by athletes. The report by Bloomberg states that Meta’s new glasses will be based on Oakley’s Sphaera model and feature a camera in the center of the frame. Meta is aiming to attract Oakley's loyal athlete followers, such as cyclists and runners, to help make smart glasses more mainstream.

Apart from the smart glasses, Meta is also working on AI-powered devices such as camera-equipped earbuds, smartwatches with camera. Other than that, the social media company is also developing a $1000 pair of smart glasses with an AR display. It will be based on the RayBan Meta design, the report reveals
