  • Despite more code, bug rates remain steady due to strict testing

Tech giant NVIDIA, the company that helped spark the global AI boom, is now using artificial intelligence in a big way inside its own offices. The chipmaker has rolled out generative AI tools to around 30,000 of its engineers, helping them write code faster and more efficiently than before.

To make this happen, NVIDIA has partnered with Anysphere Inc the company behind an AI-powered coding platform called Cursor. NVIDIA is using a customised version of Cursor’s software, which helps engineers design and write code with the support of AI. Think of it as a smart assistant that suggests lines of code, spots mistakes, and helps developers move quicker.

The results so far are striking. According to reports, NVIDIA’s engineers are now producing up to three times more code than they were before. That doesn’t necessarily mean people are working longer hours — it means AI is helping speed up routine and repetitive parts of the job. Engineers still review and guide the work, but the AI handles much of the heavy lifting.

This is especially important because NVIDIA builds products that millions of people rely on. Its graphics drivers power everything from PC gaming to advanced AI systems used by businesses. These systems cannot afford frequent mistakes. Interestingly, even though the company is producing much more code, the number of bugs has reportedly stayed the same. That suggests NVIDIA has put strict testing systems in place to make sure quality does not suffer.

This is not the first time the company has used AI in its own development process. NVIDIA has previously used powerful computers to improve features like DLSS, which boosts gaming performance. Some of its chip designs have also been improved with the help of internal AI tools. The company even says newer developments, such as DLSS 4 and more compact chip designs, have benefited from AI-assisted work.

The big takeaway is that AI inside the workplace does not automatically mean lower quality or chaos. In NVIDIA’s case, it appears to be helping engineers work faster without increasing errors. Of course, as with any new technology, only time will tell how this approach shapes future products. For now, it seems the company that helped build the AI wave is successfully riding it too.
