WWE Backlash 2025 Results, Highlights: The one-on-one showdown between John Cena - "The Last Real Champion" and "Legend Killer" Randy Orton was long overdue and it certainly met all expectations. It started with Cena trying to gain early advantage by resorting to deceit but it didn't help much. As the match progressed, Cena started to gain momentum and connected a few AA (Attitude Adjustment) on his opponent. Orton too gave Cena a taste of his vicious RKOs. During the course of the match, the official was knocked down twice and Cena tried to use the title to assault Orton, which he failed to execute in his first attempt.

In the second instance, the official was taken down outside the ring, following which Orton slammed Cena once on the announce table, and then he sent the champion through the table. As the action moved in the ring, Orton hit Cena with another RKO and went for the cover. This time another official rushed out but was accidentally taken out by Cena with the championship belt. This allowed Orton to hit Cena with another RKO but with no officials available it only led to the audience calling out the counts.
With no officials available, SmackDown manager Nick Aldis stormed into the ring with his entourage only to be taken down by a flurry of RKOs by a frustrated Orton. The Viper once again shifted focus towards Cena and before he could take him out, probably the last time, R-Truth, who we all know is a huge fan of John Cena, interrupted the show. Orton hit Truth with a RKO but with with no official present, Cent took advantage and connected a low blow on his opponent and attacked him with the championship belt. Slowly the original official scheduled for the match made his way up to the ring as Cena went for the cover and successfully retained his title.

The event kicked-off with the Fatal four-way action for the WWE US Championship featuring Jacob Fatu, Damian Priest, LA Knight and Drew McIntyre. On expected lines the fight went on to be a grueling one but had a big surprise in store. Right towards the end Solo Sikoa showed up and rescued Fatu while he laid unconscious on the announce table as LA Knight was getting ready for a massive move from the second rope. Solo pushed Fatu off the table, causing a major distraction. Knight shifted his focus towards Solo but was taken out cold with a surprise attack from the crowd, who turned out to be Jeff Cobb.
The assist by Solo and then Cobb was enough for Fatu to retain his championship, however, he didn't appear very happy with it.
Who is Jeff Cobb?
Jeff Cobb is a longtime wrestler, who has spent notable time at the New Japan Pro Wrestling. Apart from winning multiple tag team championships at the promotion, Cobb also is a one-time NJPW World Television Champion. He was also recently seen in All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Meanwhile, Lyra Valkyria managed to retain the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship against idol turned foe Becky Lynch. The match saw both superstars trade blows, connect the Slams, making it an intense one-on-one showdown. The match also saw Lynch get the chair, expose the turnbuckle. While referee didn't allow the chair to be used, Lynch, however, tried to take some advantage from the exposed turnbuckle. Despite the assaults, Valkyria managed to kick-out at two-and-a-half on two occasions.
The champ too hit Lynch with Nightwing but nothing seemed to separate the two. The match eventually finished with a flurry of rollups and Valkyria ended up on the right side of it to get the victory over Lynch.

Dominik Mysterio also retained his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Penta, this time with the assist from El Grande Americano. Dominik's growth inside the ring was on full display as he turned a suicide dive outside the ring into a DDT after being caught by the challenger. The match on expected lines saw the involvement of Judgement Day but it was El Grande Americano's headbutt with a loaded mask, which took Penta out of the equation. Mysterio took advantage of the situation and closed the match with a frog splash.
