Virat Kohli has returned to India after a four-month hiatus, prepared to rejoin the national team in time for the ODI series in Australia. A video of the former India captain arriving at the New Delhi airport surfaced on social media and in no time went viral.
Following the end of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, during which he finally got his hands on the elusive trophy with the Royal Challengers Bangalore after a wait of 18 long years, Kohli traveled to London with wife Anushka Sharma and their two kids. He had announced his retirement from Test midway during the IPL.
According to a BCCI source, the Indian squad will leave for Australia in two groups on October 15, with one group flying in the morning and the other in the evening. The first ODI is scheduled to take place in Perth on October 19.

At a critical juncture in his career, with questions surrounding his future with the national team, this series is Kohli's first appearance on the international scene since the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. With impressive performances, Kohli consistently steered India in the marquee event and finished among the top five batters in the tournament.
Kohli has played 50 ODIs against Australia, in which he amassed 2451 runs at an average of 54.46 and at a strike-rate of 93.69. His highest score is 123. Meanwhile, eight of his 51 ODI hundreds have been against the Aussies.
Kohli’s ODI record in Australia is equally remarkable. He has played 29 matches, scoring 1327 runs with a highest score of 133 not-out. He has five tons Down Under, and scored at an average of 51.03 and a strike-rate of 89.06.
