Nitish Kumar Reddy sustained a freak knee injury, which brought an abrupt end to his tour of England. The all-rounder flew back home for treatment and days after the development reports have emerged of him contemplating an exit from Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

The IPL development was reported by India Today, which cited sources confirming that the all-rounder has decided to end his association with the franchise. Reddy was among the players retained by the franchise ahead of the mega-auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia last year. SRH paid Rs 6 crore for his service.

The report mentioned that Reddy was not happy with his role for the Orange Army. The season saw Nitish playing 13 matches, where he mostly batted between the No 5-7 positions. He amassed 182 runs in those matches, which was a significant dip compared to 2024, when the all-rounder amassed 303 runs. It added that Reddy wanted to occupy the No. 4 slot, which was assured to him by the franchise.

The cricketer has reacted to the speculation and offered some clarity on the subject. "I tend to stay away from the noise, but some things deserve clarity. My connection with SRH is built on trust, respect, and years of shared passion. I’ll always stand by this team," he wrote on X.

It was also reported that the cricketer has landed in legal trouble. According to the report, Bengaluru-based talent management company Square The One has initiated legal proceedings against the cricketer, claiming unpaid dues exceeding Rs 5 crore. The case is currently pending before the Delhi High Court and is listed for hearing on July 28, 2025.
