Sanju Samson has created quite a buzz ever since it has been reported that the wicketkeeper-batter has requested Rajasthan Royals to be either traded or released. While any official word is yet to arrive on the subject from either parties, latest report state that Rajasthan Royals have already written to multiple franchise inquiring their interest in roping in Samson.

The development was reported by Cricbuzz, which stated that Royals co-owner Manoj Badale, who holds 65 percent of the stake in the franchise, is leading the negotiations personally.

It further stated that Badale has already mentioned names his franchise are keen on signing as part of the trade deal. It also stated that Royals have already closed in or are on the verge of finalising an agreement with one of them.

CSK trade almost impossible

Meanwhile, Samson was heavily linked with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). A report in The Indian Express claimed that the Royals skipper even met the CSK management and head coach Stephen Fleming during the Major League Cricket (MLC) season in the United States after IPL 2025.

However, the latest report indicate that the trade is almost impossible. It mentioned that the Royals management asked for either Ravindra Jadeja or Ruturaj Gaikwad, something which the CSK management are not excited about. Shivam Dube's name also cropped up but the management is unlikely to release the all-rounder either.

The only possible way for any deal between Samson and CSK is through extended negotiations, or they purchase him at the mini-auction for the next season.

Why Samson wants to leave RR?

Samson is seeking a new direction reportedly due to several issues of differences between him and the franchise. Out of the many issues, one was reported to be the management's decision to release Jos Buttler ahead of the mega-auction last year.

"Letting him go has been one of the most challenging decisions for me. During the England series, I told him over dinner that I was still not over it. If I could change one thing in the IPL, I would change the rule of releasing players every three years," Samson had told Star Sports before IPL 2025.
