43-year-old MS Dhoni proved once again that he is faster than many wicket-keepers when he effected another lightning-quick stumping in Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Friday.
In CSK’s last match, Dhoni had stumped Mumbai Indians’ (MI) stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav even before the batsman could complete his bat swing.
At the Chepauk on Friday, RCB were asked to bat first by CSK and Philip Salt and Virat Kohli gave their team a steady start taking the score to 45/0 in 4.5 overs.
The last ball of the fifth over, bowled by Noor Ahmad, ended in the MS magic leaving the Chepauk crowd stunned.
Noor Ahmad bowled a googly that spun away, Salt looked to drive inside out, got beaten on the outside edge and his back foot was lifted for a second and planted back in the crease.

The stumping check was referred to the third umpire and the replays showed that it took Dhoni 0.05 seconds to complete the stumping and Salt was adjudged out.

One of the cameras zoomed in on Virat Kohli, who looked clearly stunned and in complete awe at the magical hands of his former Team India captain.
Salt fell for a 16-ball 32 and the onus is on the Challengers to put up a competitive total and hope the dew stays away.
The Royal Challengers have undergone greater change than the Super Kings from the previous season. Rajat Patidar, who replaced Faf du Plessis as captain, was one of the three players retained ahead of the mega auction last year, along with Yash Dayal and Virat Kohli.
