Delhi Capitals are set to take on the formidable record-breaking Sunrisers Hyderabad today in IPL 2024. The night match is scheduled for 7:30 PM IST at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

After establishing their base in Visakhapatnam for the initial half of the season, the Delhi Capitals return to the national capital for their inaugural match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium this season. Having played two matches in Vizag, they secured victory in one while conceding defeat in the other.

Pant’s first appearance in Delhi after return

For the Capitals' skipper, Rishabh Pant, this marks his first appearance before the Delhi home crowd since his return to competitive cricket following a harrowing car accident in December 2022. Despite a sluggish start to the season, Pant has regained his form, amassing 210 runs from seven games, including two half-centuries. Notably, his strike rate of 156.72 is his highest in an IPL season since 2019. Additionally, his prowess behind the stumps has been commendable, earning him the Player of the Match title in the Capitals' previous game primarily for his wicketkeeping skills.

However, the Capitals' return home might not necessarily bring joy as they face a formidable challenge from the Sunrisers Hyderabad, a team that has twice shattered the record for the highest total in IPL history.

The performance of Khaleel Ahmed and Ishant Sharma in the powerplay against Sunrisers' dynamic left-handed opening duo, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, could prove pivotal in determining the outcome of the match.
