IND vs WI: India captain Shubman Gill known for his bad luck with coin tosses, finally won his first toss as Test skipper on Friday (October 10) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Since the England tour, Gill had lost six consecutive tosses before finally getting a win against West Indies skipper Roston Chase.
The entire Indian team laughed out loud when Gill won the toss on a flat track in Delhi. Jasprit Bumrah and head coach Gautam Gambhir were seen congratulating the skipper for ending his toss "curse".
After winning the toss, Gill confirmed that the playing eleven for India would be the same as the last match in the first Test at Ahmedabad, which won India by an innings and 140 runs.
Gill, looking at a track that looked like an ideal one for batting, went for a first innings score. The West Indies have made two changes: Tevin Imlach and Anderson Phillip have replaced Brandon King and Johann Layne.
"We will bat first, the wicket looks good to bat on Day 1. Consistency is the key for us-to be able to repeat performances and to be able to have the same intensity in every match that we play. That's something that we often speak about, and that's what we are trying to look for in this Test match as well. Honestly, not much. I'm still the same person, but definitely have more responsibilities now, but I like responsibilities and a very exciting future for me (on being elevated across all formats). We have got the same team," said Gill after winning the toss.
