The Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 auction featured thrilling moments and intense bidding as teams strove to sign a mix of seasoned stars, domestic stalwarts, and exciting young talent. Among the 520 players up for grabs, the focus was primarily on family legacies, as both Virat Kohli's nephew Aryaveer and Virender Sehwag's son Aaryavir earned DPL contracts, giving the domestic T20 league star value and emotional resonance.

In a touching turn of events, 18-year-old Delhi U-19 opener Aaryavir Sehwag, the son of India's great opener, ignited a bidding battle before being acquired by Central Delhi Kings for INR 8 lakh. Like his father, Aaryavir is renowned for his bold strokeplay at the top of the order and aggressive batting.

Aryaveer Kohli, a young leg-spinner and the nephew of contemporary great Virat Kohli, added even more glitz to the auction. South Delhi Superstarz paid INR 1 lakh to pick him up. Fans are keen to see if he continues the Kohli heritage, so his signing is likely to garner a lot of attention.

Central Delhi Kings caused quite a stir during the auction by making Simarjeet Singh the costliest purchase at INR 39 lakh. The pacer was much sought after due to his steady domestic achievements. Digvesh Rathi, who was acquired by South Delhi Superstarz for INR 38 lakh following an outstanding IPL 2025 performance, was right behind him.

Other top picks included:

Nitish Rana – INR 34 lakh (West Delhi Lions)

Prince Yadav – INR 33 lakh (New Delhi Tigers)

Navdeep Saini – (East Delhi Riders)

Suyash Sharma – (Outer Delhi Warriors)

Last season's semi-finalists, Puraani Dilli 6, kept Rishabh Pant as their star player. The India star is still the franchise's face and is anticipated to have a significant mentoring and leadership role. In addition to Pant, the team added Vansh Bedi, Dev Lakra, and Samarth Seth, all of whom are promising youngsters.

South Delhi Superstarz prepared for a strong season by signing Aryaveer Kohli, adding Digvesh Rathi, and retaining Ayush Badoni.

With Himmat Singh already retained, the New Delhi Tigers signed two big-hitters Prince Yadav and Hiten Dalal.

Ishant Sharma joined the West Delhi Lions' seasoned core, which already comprises of Ayush Doseja and Nitish Rana.

While adding Kuldip Yadav and dependable batsman Sarthak Ranjan, the North Delhi Strikers kept Harshit Rana, while making an investment in young Vaibhav Kandpal.

East Delhi Riders retained Anuj Rawat while strengthening their pace unit with Navdeep Saini and bringing back Mayank Rawat via the RTM card.

One of the new teams, the Outer Delhi Warriors, made a big impact with selections like Harsh Tyagi, Priyansh Arya, and Suyash Sharma.
