Look up early this Friday — the universe is grinning back. A rare alignment of Venus, Saturn and the crescent Moon will sketch a perfect smiley face in the sky.

Cosmic Smile
Early on 25 April, Venus, Saturn and the Moon will align. This rare event is called a triple planetary conjunction. It will form a triangle in the eastern sky. Venus and Saturn will act as the eyes. A thin crescent moon will create the smile below.

The formation will appear just before sunrise. It will be visible from almost anywhere on Earth. Clear weather and a flat eastern horizon will help.

NASA’s Solar System Ambassador Brenda Culbertson described the view. “Venus is higher above the horizon, Saturn sits lower, and the thin crescent moon forms the smile,” she said.

When and Where to Watch
The celestial smile will appear around an hour before sunrise. Look to the eastern horizon on the morning of Friday, April 25. A good viewing spot with no obstructions is ideal.

According to LiveScience, the event follows the Lyrid meteor shower. That means the sky will already be active with celestial motion.

If skies are clear, Mercury might also be spotted nearby. Venus and Saturn will shine bright enough to see unaided. A telescope or binoculars will enhance the moon’s details.

What Is a Triple Conjunction?
A conjunction happens when two space objects appear close together. If three objects align, it's called a triple conjunction. These events are rare and short-lived but stunning.

The upcoming one is expected to be brief. Still, it promises a beautiful sight for early risers. This cosmic smile is a moment not to miss.
