Dev Deepawali 2025: The grand celebration of Dev Deepawali will be observed on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. The Pradoshakal Muhurat for Dev Deepavali Puja will be from 05:15 PM to 07:50 PM. Falling on the auspicious Kartik Purnima, this festival marks the victory of Lord Shiva over the demon Tripurasura, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness.

Dev Deepawali, also known as Tripurari Purnima or Tripurotsav, is one of the most revered festivals celebrated in Varanasi (Kashi), the spiritual capital of India. According to Hindu scriptures, it is believed that on this sacred day, the Devas (celestial beings) descend to earth to celebrate Lord Shiva’s victory over the demon Tripurasura. Hence, the day is called Dev Deepawali, meaning "the Diwali of the Gods." The festival is celebrated fifteen days after Diwali and holds great religious and cultural significance, especially along the Ghats of River Ganga.

In Hindu tradition, Kartik Purnima is considered one of the most sacred full moon days. It is believed that taking a holy dip in the Ganges on this day washes away sins and grants divine blessings. The legend behind Tripurari Purnima narrates that the demon Tripurasura had created chaos across the three worlds. Lord Shiva, using his divine bow, destroyed the three cities (Tripura) built by the demon, thus restoring peace and balance in the universe.
