Tiruvannamalai is all set to celebrate the divine and powerful Arunachala Karthika Deepam 2025, the most sacred festival at Arunachaleswarar Temple. Devotees from across India gather to witness the lighting of Bharani Deepam and Mahadeepam, symbolising Lord Shiva as the eternal flame of the universe. This year, Karthigai Deepam falls on December 3, 2025, marking a spectacular 10-day Brahmotsavam celebration filled with devotion, rituals, Girivalam and grand temple processions.
Karthika Deepam 2025 Date and Significance
Karthika Deepam is celebrated during the full moon of Karthigai month when Shiva’s Agni form is worshipped. Arunachala Hill is believed to be the physical embodiment of this cosmic fire, and devotees believe that witnessing the Mahadeepam brings blessings, prosperity and liberation.

Day 1: November 24, 2025 - Dwajarohanam
The festival begins with flag hoisting, followed by processions of Panchamurthis on the Silver Vahanam.
Day 2: November 25, 2025
The deities are taken around in procession on the Indira Vimanam.
Day 3: November 26, 2025
Morning 1008 Sangu Abhishekam, night procession on the majestic Simha Vahanam.
Day 4: November 27, 2025
Procession on Kamadhenu Vahanam, symbolising fulfillment of all prayers.
Day 5: November 28, 2025
Kalasa Pooja, followed by grand procession on the Silver Rishaba Vahanam towering 25 feet high.
Day 6: November 29, 2025
Day 7: November 30, 2025
Gigantic Maha Ratham procession, filling the entire street width.
Day 8: December 1, 2025
Horse vahanam procession in the morning, Sri Pichandavar Utsavam in the night.
