Zainab Nasrallah, the daughter of Hezbollah's top leader Hassan Nasrallah, has been reportedly killed in the massive Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Friday. According to a report by Channel 12 in Israel Zainab Nasrallah was killed in the airstrike, howver there has been no official confirmation either by Israel or Lebanon in this matter. If the death of Zainab is confirmed, it could lead to aserious escalation of conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah
According to media reports, Zainab was outspoken and loyal to Hezbollah and her family's sacrifices.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said it launched new strikes on Saturday targeting Hezbollah in eastern Lebanon after intense bombardments on the group's stronghold in southern Beirut overnight.
"The IDF (military) is currently striking terror targets belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organisation in the area of Beqaa" in eastern Lebanon, it said in a statement. It added that sirens sounded in northern Israel, after Hezbollah said it struck there.
Earlier, Hezbollah on Saturday claimed a rocket attack on northern Israel, the first after heavy Israeli strikes pounded Beirut's southern suburbs overnight.
"Defending Lebanon and its people, and responding to the barbaric" Israeli attacks "on cities and villages and civilians", Hezbollah fighters targeted kibbutz Kabri in northern Israel "with a salvo of Fadi-1 rockets", the group said in a statement.
Israel said it was attacking Hezbollah's headquarters and weapons facilities, while US and Israeli media reported that Nasrallah was the target, although a source close to the group said he was "fine".
The explosions that shook southern Beirut were the fiercest to hit the Iran-backed movement's stronghold since Israel and Hezbollah last went to war in 2006.
