Days after the fatal shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia, United States, new details have come to fore. According a NBC News, accused boy's mother had called the school before the shooting on the fateful morning to report an 'extreme emergency' involving her son. However, her warning came to late to prevent the horrific attack.
14-year-old Colt Gray was arrested for opening fire at the school killing two students and two teachers and injuring 9 others with a semi-automatic AR-15-style rifle provided by Gray's father.
Citing a text message written by Marcee to her sister, The Washington Post reported, Colt's mother Marcee Gray, had contacted the school counselor about 30 minutes before the attack began.
"I told them it was an extreme emergency and for them to go immediately and find [my son] to check on him."
However, the school authorities confused another student with a similar name and targeted him for search, and minutes later, shooting began.
Significantly, Colt and his father Colin Gray, both have been arrested and charges in the case.
The teen faces four felony murder counts after allegedly killing two fellow pupils, also aged 14, as well as two teachers at Apalachee High School in the southern state of Georgia on Wednesday.
The suspect's father, 54-year-old Colin Gray, was in custody and faces four counts of involuntary manslaughter, two counts of second-degree murder, and eight counts of cruelty to children, making him the latest American parent to face criminal charges after a child was involved in a mass shooting.
