Miyazaki, the visionary director behind Studio Ghibli's beloved animated films, has been rightfully recognised for his exceptional contributions to the world of cinema.

Renowned film director and co-founder of Studio Ghibli, Hayao Miyazaki, has been awarded the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award for 2024. Often referred to as Asia's Nobel Prize, the award recognises individuals who have made exceptional contributions to society.

The global announcement of the 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Awardees was made on August 31. Miyazaki's award comes in recognition of his groundbreaking work in animation and his commitment to storytelling that inspires and uplifts audiences worldwide.

Miyazaki, the visionary director behind Studio Ghibli's beloved animated films, has been rightfully recognised for his exceptional contributions to the world of cinema. His masterful storytelling, coupled with his unwavering commitment to environmental conservation and social harmony, has resonated with audiences of all ages.

Miyazaki's works, such as My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Ponyo, and The Boy and the Heron, have captivated audiences worldwide. Through his animated narratives, he has addressed complex issues in a manner that is both accessible and thought-provoking.

Miyazaki's ability to blend fantasy with reality, creating immersive worlds that explore themes of nature, humanity, and the environment, has made him a beloved figure in the animation industry. The 2024 recipients, consisting of three individuals and one group, were selected by the Manila-based Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation. According to The Japan Times, the award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Manila in November.

Studio Ghibli announced the news on their X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The post read, "Hayao Miyazaki wins the Ramon Magsaysay Award, known as the "Nobel Prize of Asia."

The post also stated, "The foundation praised him, stating, "He has used art to help children understand complex issues, such as environmental protection and the promotion of peace. He has created many of the most memorable and beloved films in the world." The award ceremony will be held in Manila in November."
