Donald Trump's decision to choose Ohio senator and former tech venture capitalist JD Vance as his running mate on July 15 has been widely welcomed by US tech industry and business CEOs.

Chamath Palihapitiya, a former donor to Hillary Clinton reacted to Trump’s announcement about Vance, tweeting, "A Bestie adjacent as the VP!"
The founder and managing partner of Aloft VC, Crystal McKellar, who has worked with Vance said, "He will be good for Silicon Valley because he is a good free market capitalist who believes in growth and innovation and eliminating the regulation that strangles growth.”
The US Silicon Valley has traditionally been a Democratic stronghold, and a support base for the Republicans now seems to be emerging in support of Trump's bid for the White House.
Dan Eberhart, an oil businessman, said the choice shows Trump's confidence in his campaign. "It demonstrates that Trump doesn't feel he needs his VP to deliver any specific demographic or state. He's confident that he has this race wrapped up."

US President Joe Biden dismissed Donald Trump's newly-picked running mate JD Vance as his 'clone'. He said, "A clone of Trump on the issues. I don’t see any difference."

The selection of James David Vance could potentially increase voter turnout for Trump in the November 5 election, especially in key "Rust Belt" states where the outcome will likely be determined. The Ohio native is highly popular with the Republican candidate's base, and his populist message resonates well in states with significant working-class white populations that have been affected by de-industrialization.
Vance has been a vocal opponent of the continued aid to Ukraine in the Senate.
