iPhone maker Apple said on Tuesday that it will hold a special event named "Scary Fast" on October 30. According to media reports, the Cupertino tech giant may use the event to release its new range of Mac devices with its M3 chip. Apple will hold the event at 5 pm Pacific Time (8 pm EST), a departure from its usual morning events.
The company's events website has a promo for the Scary Fast event, featuring a dynamic Apple logo on a black background that morphs into the Mac Finder icon, confirming the event's focus on Mac products.
In June 2023, Apple launched a larger MacBook Air with the new M2 chip at a price of $1,299, a year after the company upgraded the 13-inch MacBook Air with the same processor.
The Scary Fast event will be prerecorded and held online only with no in-person component, as has been the case with prior events.
According to rumours on multiple social media platforms and forums over the past few months, Apple might release a new version of its 24-inch iMac, since that product still uses the older M1 chip. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has shot down that notion stating that the company could instead release new versions of the 13-inch MacBook Pro, 14-inch MacBook Pro, and 16-inch MacBook Pro with the new M3 chips, according to tech forum MacRumors.
While there is no official confirmation on whether the event will indeed focus on the new M3-series chips, we could potentially see the iMac and the MacBook Pro models adopting the 3-nanometer M3 chip lineup, according to MacRumors.
