Zerodha co-founders and brothers Nikhil and Nithin Kamath recently gifted a brand-new Mercedes GLS to their mother on her birthday. The luxury SUV is estimated to be worth around Rs 1.5 crore and is known for its powerful engine, plush interiors, and cutting-edge technology.
A proud Revathi Kamath took to Facebook to share the update in a now-viral post. "My sons today gifted me new car today and here also I received car keys this way and one more peta and shalu!!!" she wrote.
The billionaires' mother was referring to the traditional turban (peta) and the ceremonial shawl (shalu) that she received with the car keys while the luxury SUV was being handed over to her.
Nikhil and Nikhil Kamath co-founded Zerodha in 2010, disrupting India's stock brokerage industry with zero fees. It is currently the country's largest online brokerage platform with more than 1.6 crore users without any advertising.
Earlier this month, Nithin Kamath was named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2024 for his role in reshaping India’s brokerage industry through a low-margin, high-volume strategy. He was also recognised for not only transforming a bootstrapped Zerodha into a billion-dollar company, but also actively supporting fintech and climate-focused startups.
Meanwhile, Nikhil Kamath has been focusing on his philanthropic ventures and his popular podcast 'WTF is' which had also made it to the list of best podcasts of the year in 2023 on music streaming apps. In his podcast, Kamath hosts friends and industry experts and holds casual yet intellectually stimulating conversations. It covers a wide range of topics including technology, social media, renewable energy, electric vehicles, philosophy, gaming, and psychology, among others.
