A woman who was laid off from her role at LinkedIn landed a new job at Google with the help of a video. Mariana Kobayashi-an account executive-made a video in which she described her professional experience and had her former colleagues and industry insiders give positive endorsements of her personality.

Her attempts to impress those who matter at Google bore fruit and she landed a job with the tech giants in December 2023. Kobayashi recently took to LinkedIn and gave a step-by-step procedure on how she got a job at Google.

"I landed an interview at Google through a video. Here's step by step how that happened. The best way to stand out when applying for a job is thinking about what everyone else is doing and doing something else (in anything in life, really). Please steal my method, and good luck!" the woman wrote in the caption of the post.

The woman shared the video, which got her the job at Google on her YouTube channel and also gave details of her background that included childhood experiences and endorsement from her former employers.

The woman's LinkedIn post saw a lot of user comments, many of whom praised her for the way she landed the Google role.

"A masterclass on what 'put yourself on the radar' means," one user wrote.

"I love this video and how your personality totally shined through!! truly harnessing the power of video to stand out as a candidate, I’m stealing this idea," another user wrote.

"Even using the rejection as an idea for content and to get attention of more potential employers is genius! Love this," a third user wrote.
