The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting is currently underway at Swiss ski destination Davos. The summit, held under the theme of ‘Rebuilding Trust’ started on January 15 and will go on till January 19. More than 2,800 leaders from around the world, including over 60 heads of states and governments, are on the list of attendees.
Several interesting moments have come to light from Davos. One of them was when Hardeep Singh Puri and Milind Deora bumped into each other and reminisced about old days. The duo once attended a Rolling Stones concert while they were in Brazil, Puri revealed while in conversation with CNBC-TV18.
Puri, who is the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, recalled how he and Deora bet on what the popular rock band would open with. They were at the Copacabana Beach during the concert. “Both of us thought that they would open with ‘Jumpin’ Jack Flash’ but we were both proved wrong,” Puri said.
Meanwhile, Davos saw another pair, whose paths might never have crossed normally, bumping into each other. Indian Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Gita Gopinath ran into Chanel CEO Leena Nair at the 54th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum. The women also took a picture together. “Great to finally meet Leena Nair. Only in Davos does an economist run into a fashion mogul,” Gopinath wrote in the caption of the post.
Meanwhile, to celebrate Pongal at Davos, Tamil Nadu minister TRB Rajaa served some Pongal, a sweet dish made especially on the harvest festival, to dignitaries attending the meet.
A video and a few pictures of Rajaa, serving the sweet dish made with newly harvested rice with milk, jaggery and nuts, surfaced online.
