In May 2022, Elon Musk recalled his visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra in 2007 and referred to it as a wonder of the world.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk will arrive in India on a two-day visit on April 21 and will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other government officials and industry representatives in a bid to kickstart operations of his two companies- Tesla and Starlink- in Asia.

This, however, will not be Musk's first visit to India and in May 2022, he had replied to an X (formerly Twitter) post recalling his trip to the Taj Mahal in 2007.

"It is amazing. I visited in 2007 and also saw the Taj Mahal, which truly is a wonder of the world," Musk had said in reply to a post about the Red Fort, which he visited in the same year.

Musk's post saw a lot of replies, including one from Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma who asked him when he was coming to deliver the first Tesla at the Taj.

"It will be an incredible challenge for Tesla to build FSD for India. We are known to be the most unruly road users. That said, when are you coming here to deliver first @Tesla here at The Taj?" Sharma had said.

Musk's visit to India could prove to a decisive moment for India's tech ecosystem which finds itself in an inflection point, with the passage of the new data protection and telecommunication law and the centre approving several semiconductor investment proposals.
