A millennial IT professional based in California has been working two remote jobs at the same time and earning ($300,000) Rs 2.5 crore per year. Nicholas Flemming (name changed) said that he has been "double dipping" for over two years but does not still feel rich with his earnings.

Speaking with Business Insider, Flemming added that despite his best efforts to keep what he terms as his "overemployment" hidden from his employers, he suspects that one of his bosses knows about it.

"He either chooses not to mention it or simply doesn't care as long as I get my work done," he told the publication.

Explaining how he started his journey, Flemming said in 2021, when a former boss asked if he was looking for a new job, he considered working two remote jobs and took it up.

"I thought about my current workload, and I thought about what my new workload would be, and I figured I'd give it a shot," he told Business Insider. "I'd save the extra money to buy a house, or go on a vacation, and fill up my retirement accounts for the aim of perhaps retiring early."

But two years later, and with a double income, he has been able to save about $150,000 (Rs 1.2 crore). Flemming added that doubling his salary hasn't impacted his standard of living at all -- he still drives the same car, flies economy, and stays at 2-3-star hotels.

"I wish I could say it made me rich, and don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not hurting for money," he said. "But homeownership still feels far away."

Flemming also tried moonlighting with a third company--twice in the last two years-- before he realised that he would not be able to manage three jobs. "It became clear that I simply didn't have the bandwidth to focus on three things at once," he told the publication.

Elaborating further on how he managed to balance two full-time jobs over two years, Flemming told Business Insider that it was a combination of luck and practice.

His teams' daily meetings luckily don't overlap and he has practiced working on one job while in a meeting for another. Moreover, he pointed out that the skills he learns in one job sometimes help him become more productive at the other. Flemming is also able to complete tasks ahead of time and works around 40 hours a week.
