Quick commerce platform Blinkit is now offering complimentary coriander (dhaniya) on orders containing a certain amount of vegetables. The feature is inspired by the free coriander and green chillies that one usually gets while shopping for vegetables local vendors. Meanwhile, it was added after a customer’s mother was shocked to pay for the humble herb while buying veggies on Blinkit.
"Mom got a mini heart attack because she had to pay for dhaniya on Blinkit," the customer named Ankit Sawant wrote on X. Tagging Albinder Dhindsa, CEO of Blinkit, Sawant added, "Mom is suggesting that you should bundle it for free with certain amount of veggies."

Sawant’s post went viral with close to seven lakh views and several social media users resonated with his mother’s point of view.
“Free dhaniya and mirchi should be a part of every order, not just veggies,” one user wrote. Another user commented, “Your mom is a marketing wiz, sire!”
“Blinkit does send some free samples from time to time, but yes, nothing beats the smile to see the free dhaniya and hari mirch,” a third user remarked.
The post also caught Dhindsa's attention and he replied with a "will do it" on the post. And he so did.
"It’s live! Everyone please thank Ankit’s mom," Dhindsa wrote while sharing a screenshot of an order of vegetables with a coriander bunch displaying as a free gift.
"We will polish the feature in next couple of weeks," the CEO added. Meanwhile, details about the minimum order cart value to obtain the free dhaniya have not been confirmed by Blinkit as yet.
