Former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, author, and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty and (right) social media influencer Revant Himatsingka aka 'Food Pharmer'.

Revant Himatsingka, who is popularly known as "Food Pharmer" on social media, has shared that his biggest honour as an influencer has been to assist Sudha Murty in her research on food adulteration in India before bringing up the topic for discussion in the monsoon session of the Rajya Sabha this year. He added that he would be helping her with more research for the upcoming winter session of the parliament.

"My biggest honour in my journey as Food Pharmer is when Sudha Murty Ma’am contacted me to provide research on food adulteration for Rajya Sabha," Himatsingka wrote on X.  "She is by far the most humble person I’ve met and I’ve come across influencers with 1 lakh followers with more attitude than her."

He also revealed that unlike most public figures who communicate via managers, Murty prefers to exchange messages directly over WhatsApp "almost like a friend". "Imagine if the world’s most powerful people got together and fought for what is right," the Food Pharmer said.

In July, during the Rajya Sabha session, Murty had flagged a number of problems regarding food adulteration, its health repercussions while highlighting the widespread use of synthetic colour, synthetic vinegar, and MSG in the hotel industry. She also pointed out that although there are multiple food-testing laboratories in the country, they are poorly equipped.
