Sachin Tendulkar calls out his fake video, expresses concern about misuse of technology

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar vehemently refuted a video circulating on social media that portrays him endorsing a gaming application promising quick financial gains. The video shows an AI-generated version of Tendulkar touting the advantages of the app, claiming his own daughter uses it to withdraw a substantial amount daily.

Tendulkar, considered one of the greatest cricketers in the sport's history, took to social media to denounce the deceptive video, expressing concern about the rampant misuse of technology and tagging the IT minister, ministry and the Maharashtra cyber cell.

The video, featuring the AI replication of Tendulkar's voice, falsely asserts, "My daughter has been using this application and withdrawing Rs 1.8 lakh every day. Downloading the app 'Skyward Aviator Quest' is easy for any iPhone user from the App Store."

The voice used in the video resembles Tendulkar's but there are easy signs that can help you spot its a fake.

The cricket icon posted the video accompanied by a strong message urging users to be vigilant against such deceptive content. He stated, "These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers."

Tendulkar, 50, emphasized the need for social media platforms to promptly address such issues. He wrote, "Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deepfakes."

The misuse of advanced artificial intelligence (AI), such as deepfake technology, can convincingly replicate the voice and appearance of individuals for deceptive purposes and several prominent personalities have urged authorities to take action and asked the public to take caution.
