Dhoni, in a press conference on Tuesday evening, didn't say a word every time there was a question regarding the latest spot-fixing row that has rocked Indian cricket.

Now if Dhoni had even moderately expressed his opinion on what happened, do you think they were going to sack him? Do you think the cricket loving public of India would have stood for it. I am very disappointed with the Indian captain as well as the others. The time has come to ask the BCCI President to resign. The time has come to break through the silence and the issue must be forced," said N Ram, the former Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu.Former cricketer Maninder Singh also added that Dhoni could have given a diplomatic answer. "I think he could have just been diplomatically correct. I think he is going to regret this press conference when he leaves cricket because he could have really handled it in a better way." Former cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad added, "His silence on this issue is very serious. Without saying anything a lot of things have been said."Meiyappan's police custody ends todayMeanwhile, the police custody of BCCI chief N Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan in the IPL betting case ends on Wednesday. The Mumbai Police is likely to ask for an extension of his custody. This comes as the police continue to interrogate actor Vindoo Dara Singh and bookies Taneja and Patel regarding the allegations of betting and fixing in the Indian Premier League.However, Chennai hotelier Vikram Aggarwal still remains untraceable. The Mumbai Police is yet to serve summons to him.BCCI forms 3-member panel to take actionThe BCCI has now appointed a three-member panel to probe complaints against Gurunath Meiyappan, Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals owners. But in a major surprise the board has two independent members on the panel even as BCCI chief N Srinivasan had indicated there would be only one independent member in his press conference in Kolkata on Sunday.The three members of the commission are Justice T Jayaram Chouta, a former judge of the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu High Courts, Justice R Balasubramanian, former judge of the Tamil Nadu High Court and board secretary Sanjay Jagdale.IPL bookie was in touch with Dawood Ibrahim's aide: Delhi PoliceIn the spot-fixing probe, the Delhi Police on Tuesday for the first time told the court hearing the IPL spot-fixing case that the racket had links to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The police told the court that one of the bookies, Tiku Mandi, was in touch with a D-company pointsman.Meanwhile, the court rejected the Delhi Police's demand for extension of cricketer S Sreesanth's custody. Rejecting his bail plea, the court sent Sreesanth to Tihar jail till June 4. The next hearing on his bail plea will be held then.The court also rejected the bail plea of the other arrested cricketer Ankeet Chavan. Meanwhile, the third cricketer Ajit Chandila was also sent to judicial custody earlier, along with two bookies, Mandi (Ashwini) and Chandresh.
