Home is where the heart is, and for a significant number of Indians, it's their favourite place to be, according to the Life at Home Report 2023 by IKEA.

For 50% of Indians, home is not just a place; it's an emotion. The report reveals that living close to family and friends is a key factor for 35% of Indians, fostering endless movie nights, game nights, and shared meals.

Additionally, the love from pets contributes to the feeling of security, with 27% of pet owners attesting to this.

Connecting with neighbours is an essential aspect of creating a sense of home, as noted by 23% of Indians.

Looking ahead to 2024, the report foresees a wave of change, with 56% of Indians planning to move and an additional 18% opting to renovate their current homes. Decluttering emerges as a significant theme, with 22% highlighting its importance in creating a comfortable living space.

Sleep is a top priority for 33% of Indians, with various habits contributing to a good night's rest. The report reveals insights such as the significance of fresh bed sheets, soothing drinks, favourite pillows, darkness, and even the occasional superstition about haunted homes.

Indians prioritize holistic health, with 34% focusing on physical health, 29% on mental well-being, and 30% on the health of those around them.

Creating a multi-sensory space for relaxation involves lighting candles, comfortable furniture, mood-appropriate lighting, and even crystals.

The report also highlights personal time, with 20% of Indians finding comfort in changing clothes upon arriving home, and 31% indulging in private dance or song sessions.
